This Website aims to be the definitive photographic archive of shipping visitors to the River Tyne since 2003, with many photographs dating back much further. The database is fully searchable allowing ships to be searched by numerous different parameters. During its life, the website has undergone four revisions, the latest completed in November 2020 when a server hack prompted a full rewrite.
Photographs.
Photographs are supplied by a large number of local photographers. If you would like to contribute your own photographs or have better versions than ours please get in touch via the contact page. All photographs remain the copyright of Tyneships.co.uk. We can supply larger copies of the majority of our photographs on request – just drop us a line.
Searching.
Photographs of the most recent visitors to the River Tyne are displayed in order on the site homepage. You can also search the database in two ways: The main search button allows you to search by any keyword, including ship names, flags, home ports, owners, or IMO number. The ‘Ship Types’ function displays a list of the ship types which have visited us allowing a list of, for example, all our visiting Bulk Carriers to be displayed.
